'Usted es Suya' Reflection, Essay & Conversation
Students in Ms. Johanna Estrella’s Spanish 12 class concluded their study of Mrs. Mercedes Benito's Usted es Suya with an opportunity to look beyond the novel and reflect on their own growth.
Drawing connections between the evolution of the main character, Belén, and their own experiences, they wrote essays about the goals, challenges, and lessons that have marked their school years.
Over snacks, they shared excerpts of their essays with one another, turning literary analysis into conversation and reflection as they approach the end of their high school journey.
At SJS, literature invites students not only to understand a character’s journey, but to think more deeply about their own.
Saint John’s School
Saint John’s School is a non-profit, college preparatory, nonsectarian, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from Toddler to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
