Welcome to Saint John’s Upper Elementary School!
At Saint John’s School, we work collectively toward the greater goal of identifying and developing the individual talents and potential of each and every student at our school. Teachers are tasked with differentiating instruction within their classrooms to meet these evolving needs in challenging and exciting ways. Students are encouraged to explore individual interests through the clusters program where real world professional skills are learned. These skills are learned through targeted assignments in which students create, produce, and distribute actual products to the community at large.
Community service and involvement have always been an integral part of the Saint John’s School experience. From an early age, children at Saint John’s School are taught the lasting value of participation and contribution to the greater good, through a series of ongoing community programs interwoven into the core curriculum at all academic levels.
Character education at the elementary level is an essential part of the Saint John’s School curriculum. As role models and educators, we seek to build strength of character in our students by integrating explicit character instruction into all subject areas as appropriate. We focus on the six pillars of character: respect, responsibility, caring, honesty, service and integrity. Upper elementary students meet once per cycle to learn and practice conflict resolution strategies and to build social frameworks in order to combat bullying throughout the school.
At the Upper Elementary School, we are driven by our school motto, “Community, Service and Character” and integrate it into every aspect of our daily education, while striving to maintain the highest level of academic excellence.
