Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 school year.  We encourage families to begin the process early for priority consideration.

We are also still accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year, however, please note that our Li'l Canes and PPK programs are at capacity.   Waitlists are in place for these entry points.

Our Admissions Office is ready to guide you through every step of the process.  Here are some important dates to keep in mind.
Admissions Timeline


  • Apply anytime - Applications are open year-round.
  • October - Open House season begins.  Check our website for dates.
  • November - Contact us to coordinate your child's visit.
  • December - February -  Priority application period. Completed applications due.
  • February - June - Applications continue to be accepted, and decisions are released on a rolling, first-come, first-served basis.
  • Mid-Year Entry - Applications for available spaces in select grades are also considered.

Admissions Requirements

To be considered for admission, all applicants for Toddler through 12th grade must submit the requirements detailed below.  Incomplete files will not be reviewed.

  • Online application
  • Non-refundable $100.00 application fee
  • Birth certificate
  • PVAC-3 form (Puerto Rico vaccination form) or immunization record
  • Family/Student introduction letter
  • Additional requirements by grade level are detailed below

  • Early Childhood Program (Toddler Program through 2nd grade)

    There are no additional requirements for Toddler Program applicants.  For students applying to PPK through 2nd grade:
    • Letter of recommendation from current teacher
    • Evaluation or progress report from current teacher, or
    • Transcript or report cards from current and/or previous school (two complete years, if applicable) 
    • Classroom visit
    • Psychometric evaluation, if applicable
    The age requirements for admissions are:
    • Toddler program: 18 to 36 months
    • Pre Pre-Kinder: 3 years by July 31*
    • Pre-Kinder: 4 years by July 31
    • Kindergarten: 5 years by July 31
    • 1st Grade: 6 years by July 31
    *Candidates applying to Pre Pre-Kinder and up must be potty trained
       
    • Elementary Division (3rd through 6th grade)

      • Transcript or report cards from current and/or previous school (at least two complete years)
      • Letters or recommendations from current teachers
      • Previous standardized test scores: Piense, Learn Aid, or comparable (if applicable)
      • Psychometric evaluation, if applicable
      • ISEE online entrance exam
        • Register here for an At-Home test appointment
        • Use Saint John's School ode 546160 for score reporting
      • Classroom visit
      • Interview with the Saint John's School Admissions Committee
    • Secondary Division (7th through 12th grade)

      • Transcript from current and/or previous school (two complete years minimum)
      • Letters of recommendation from current teachers 
      • Previous standardized test scores: Piense, Learn Aid, PSAT, SAT, SSAT, or comparable (if applicable)
      • Psychoeducational Evaluation (if applicable):
      • ISEE online entrance exam
        • Select the ERB-Administer At-Home test appointment 
        • Use Saint John's School code: 546160 for score reporting
      • Interview with the Saint John’s School Admissions Committee
      For students applying to 12th grade:

      Saint John’s School considers only extraordinary cases for senior year entry. Applicants must provide evidence of such (determined by the Admissions Committee on a case-by-case basis) and comply with at least one of the following:
      • Excellent academic standing; cumulative GPA of 3.5 (or equivalent) or better
      • Returning former student in excellent standing
      • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the SJS community
      • If admitted, the student must commit to taking at least five academic courses for the year.

    Saint John’s School is a non-profit, college preparatory, nonsectarian, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from Toddler to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
