Congratulations to María Mercedes Méndez ’27, our Poetry Out Loud in-school champion for the second year in a row.
María will represent SJS at Puerto Rico’s first semifinal on FEB 11, competing for a place in the Finals and the opportunity to represent the island at the National Finals in Washington, DC, in April. We also celebrate Roni Lewy ’27, who placed second, and Isabel Bringas ’26, who placed third, for their standout performances.

At SJS, the arts are an essential part of the academic experience, empowering students to develop creativity, confidence, and strong communication skills across every discipline.
Saint John’s School is a non-profit, college preparatory, nonsectarian, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from Toddler to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
