Saint John's School's athletic department promotes interscholastic sports as early as first grade, in order to be consistent with the school's academic mission. Athletics are played with purpose and perspective, where young athletes develop the discipline needed to be strong leaders.
Congratulations to 7th grader Natalie Pedley, who was selected by the Puerto Rican Federation of Equestrian Sports (FPDE), to be part of the 2018 National Team. The athletes who qualified for this distinction met the demands of the sport in their class and accumulated scores during the 2017 Annual Championship. Natalie has demonstrated essential qualities such as courage, determination and discipline. We are extremely proud!
Congratulations to 9th grader Carolina Camacho who was selected by AIST to join the U15 Volleyball Team. This team will be traveling abroad in the summer and competing in the United World Games. We are so proud to have Carolina representing the US and SJS! For mor information see the AIST website.
Be part of our new strength and conditioning program for male and female student-athletes in grades 7th -12th
Monday-Thursday mornings before school, 6:30-7:30am in the Fitness Center. *A minimum of 18 registered participants are required for the program to begin.
This program will run from Monday, September 11, 2017-Thursday, December 14, 2017. Second semester dates will be forthcoming.
The cost of the program is $450 per participant for the semester, payable by credit card (online), cash, or check (payable to Saint John’s School). All check and cash payments must be made directly to the Business Office.

Congratulations to 5th graders, Sebastián & Diego Vázquez-Guillemard, for winning the Puerto Rico jujitsu championships for 75 & 85lbs, in Yabucoa! Thanks to our afterschool jujitsu program, with Sensei Ramiro, these boys developed their skills.
Congratulations to 8th grader, Diego Saavedra, who won the Puerto Rico Golf Association National Championship in the 15&under Boys category. Diego will represent Puerto Rico in the Caribbean Golf Championships this coming June.

This past weekend the Puerto Rico Swimming Federation, Federación Puertorriqueña de Natación, hosted its 2016 Short Course Championships at the San Juan Natatorium. Second Grader, Adrian Negron won the bronze medal in 50m Freestyle for his category. SJS’s sophomore Sarah Cabré and fresh(wo)men Sophie Termaat and Ana González had an outstanding performance. With a loaded program of events that had them compete in up to 9 individual events and 2 relays over the 3 day meet, all of them had personal best times in almost all of their events. Sarah was the top scorer of the Championships for the girl’s 13-14 years old category with 113 points.This bodes well for our girl’s swimming team as the PRHSAA’s swimming season gets under way this Friday at 3:00 p.m. in the San Juan Natatorium.
Congratulations to Diego Ortiz, who has been selected into the Major League Baseball Jr. Elite Program in Puerto Rico. This MLB program was created to increase the number of opportunities in PR for young talented players to develop to their full potential, particularly after they reach junior high school level . The program targets elite baseball players between the ages of 13-18. HURRICANE PROUD!
The Saint John's JV and Varsity Girls' Beach Volleyball Teams, and their coach Yarleen Santiago, won the First PRHSAA Beach Volleyball Tournament at the Balneario de Isla Verde. Carolina Camacho and Laura Reichard, represented Saint John's School as the Junior Varsity team and Robilee Frederick and Lara Torruella, Varsity team, won all six games and reached the Championship game undefeated. Go 'Canes!
The Saint John's School Mini Golf team, Michael Beals 5th grade, Rafael Marrero, 4th Grade and Nicolás McDowall, 4th Grade, participated today in the First Round of the LAMEPI Golf Championships. Good luck 'Canes.
The Super Mini and Mini Basketball teams had a great performance at the Mini and Super Mini Basketball Tournament. The Mini Boys came in second place, after an exciting final game against Bonneville. The Mini Girls also placed second. They faced Dorado Academy in the final game. Special thanks to the Class of 2021's students, parents and faculty for organizing the tournament.
Saint John’s School is a non-profit, college preparatory, nonsectarian, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from pre pre-kinder to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
