Saint John's School Therapy Dogs
The first graduating class of SJS therapy dogs underwent formal testing. Handlers were oriented and had to successfully apply and fulfill a background check through the Volunteers of America website. They conducted several tests under the supervision of the president of PR Therapy dogs, Dr. Ivan Santiago.
A therapy dog is a dog trained to provide affection, comfort, and love to people. Therapy dogs have several benefits ranging from therapeutic and psychological benefits to academic and cognitive benefits. Saint John’s School is a non-profit, college preparatory, nonsectarian, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from pre pre-kinder to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
