"Be a Bee" Initiative led by Isabelle Ramseyer

Thanks to 9th grader Isabelle Ramseyer and her "Be a Bee" initiative, we had the privilege of hosting Sr. Carbonel, President of Asociación Apicola de Borinken, Meteorologist, Ada Monzon and Patricia de la Torre, Head of Development of the Boys and Girls Club. According to Isabelle, "this idea started with a simple Instagram post after Hurricane Maria passed through the Island. We are ready to start. Our school received our educational observatory bee hive. Like bees, we want to help our society and agriculture; we will be educating our community and supporting the beekeepers. We will be part of helping Puerto Rico recover and at the same time be a part of a worldwide movement. Let’s talk about it and bee about it." Now Isabelle has the support of her peers from the Class of 2021, the faculty and administration. Outside of the SJS community, this project will be partnering with the Boys and Girls Club and EcoExploratorio in Plaza las Americas.
