Our 7th graders stepped out of the classroom to explore a little bit of Puerto Rico, turning Mini Week into a hands-on, cultural immersive experience.
Each stop added a new layer of perspective and strengthened their bond as a class.
They hiked through El Yunque Rainforest, engaged in agrotourism and prepared their own mofongos during a cooking lesson at Finca Don Manuel in Santa Isabel, visited an authentic bee farm, walked through the vibrant Yaucromatic murals in Yauco, navigated La Parguera’s mangrove cays and the Bioluminescent Bay, and took in the views from Cueva Ventana in Arecibo.
Along the way, students connected what they learn in school with the realities of sustainability, local enterprise, and the stories that shape our island’s traditions.
Unique experiences like Mini Week ensure our students learn by doing, not just by being taught.
