Exceptional Performance at PR Metropolitan Science Fair
At the Puerto Rico Metropolitan Science Fair awards ceremony, our students claimed two of the three United States Air Force Awards for Outstanding Science or Engineering Fair Projects, along with additional honors.
Adrián Rodríguez ’27 and Manesh Palai ’27 earned Best Poster, 1st Place in Physics & Engineering, and a United States Air Force Award for their project, Development of Portable Nuclear Radiation Detectors for Hazardous Environments.
Emma Vera ’27 received Best Poster, 1st Place in Health & Medicine, and a United States Air Force Award for her project, Genus-Level Bacterial Classification via Raman Spectroscopy and Machine Learning Data Processing and Analysis. She was also named an ISEF Observer Prize recipient, ranking among the top 18 highest average scores at the fair. This distinction will allow her to attend Regeneron ISEF in Phoenix this May as an observer and translator, joining the world’s most accomplished young researchers.
Violette Shue ’29 was honored with NOAA’s Regional 2026 Taking the Pulse of the Planet Award and 2nd Place in Environmental Engineering for her project, Real Device Trained Wave-to-Wire Predicted Modeling for Puerto Rico Sea-States: Machine Learning Enabled Wave Energy Converter Selection. She was also winner of the Stockholm Junior Water Prize, earning the spot to participate in the regional competition.
Congratulations to Adrián, Manesh, Emma, and Violette for raising the standard and representing our school at the highest level. We are exceptionally proud that your work is already shaping conversations in science and engineering.
