Senior Wyatt Wunker (’25) has been named a National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winner! He’s among only 2,500 students selected nationwide from a talent pool of over 15,000 exceptional Finalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), a nonprofit established in 1955 to recognize and reward outstanding academic talent. Each year, NMSC honors students with the strongest combination of academic achievement, leadership, and potential for college success. The number of winners in each state is proportional to its share of the nation’s graduating seniors, proving just how truly competitive this honor is.
Wyatt’s selection places him among the most academically accomplished high school seniors in the U.S. His journey is a testament to what’s possible in a school environment that challenges students to think critically, lead with purpose, and excel at the highest levels, standing out on the national stage.
Congratulations, Wyatt! We’re proud to see our Hurricanes thrive—and step confidently into what’s next.
