Our Hurricanes Made Their Mark In Washington, D.C.

Hurricanes made their mark in Washington, D.C. at the 44th Model Organization of American States, a gathering of student leaders from across the hemisphere centered on the theme “Shaping the Future of the Americas: Youth Leadership for Resilience, Innovation, and Sustainable Development.”


Mardi Roques Colón ’26 led the entire conference as Secretary General, while Lara Yassin ’26 chaired the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs and Cyrus Wunker ’26 chaired the Committee on Hemispheric Security. Cecilia Rodríguez ’26 contributed as one of the Communications Officials guiding the event’s messaging and flow.

Our delegates also earned top distinctions. Roni Lewy ’27 and Maddox Nguyen ’28 earned Best General Statement Awards in the Committee on Hemispheric Security, representing Mexico and Barbados. And looking ahead, Clara Agosto ’27 was elected Chair of the Committee on Juridical and Political Affairs for the 45th MOAS.

Saint John’s School is a non-profit, college preparatory, nonsectarian, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from Toddler to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
