Model United Nations Competition at Colegio San Ignacio

The Model United Nations students competed in Colegio San Ignacio's Model United Nations competition. Although a considerable number of our members were performing in the school musical, the SJS MUN club still represented our school in the second to last competition of the year. 
The students who participated were:
  1. Oscar Serrano in the Petrobras committee as Moreira Franco.
  2. Georgiana Unanue and Emilio Matos in the Petrobras committee as Luis Ignacio Da Silva - who won a written mention award.
  3. José Ignacio Fernández and Diego Saavedra in the  Turkey war of independence as Mehmet IV 
  4. Pablo Llano in the Turkey war of independence as Aristeides Stergiadis.
  5. José Rodríguez Carrión and Carlos Unanue in the Greek Financial Crisis as Russia.
  6. Gavriel Faigenblat in the Greek Financial Crisis as China.
  7. Annia Guindín and Paola Blanco the Greek Financial Crisis as Banco Santander.
  8. Gabriel Escalante and Javier Cardoza in the Renewable Energy transition committee as Irak.
  9. Giovanni Dávila in Maduro's Cabinet as Wilmar Castro.
11th grader, Luis Portela was an excellent chair in the Greek Financial Crisis committee, which had a special guest during Saturday, as Mrs. Natalie Jaresko gave generously of her time to visit the committee and answer students' question. Luis Portela, along with his co-chair, ran a smooth, harmonious committee.

Once more, the SJS MUN club shows its commitment to research, writing and public speaking, and represented Saint John's School with dignity in the Federación de Naciones Unidas, the student league where it competes along with its peer schools.

Saint John’s School is a non-profit, college preparatory, nonsectarian, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from pre pre-kinder to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
