Learning Beyond Classrooms

For our Advanced Seminar on the History of Puerto Rico students, history comes alive beyond the classroom.

They attended a conference with renowned historian Dr. Francisco Moscoso, author of Editorial Santillana’s latest Puerto Rico history textbook, exploring how primary and secondary sources deepen appreciation for the island’s rich legacy. Students then took a guided tour of Old San Juan, visiting key landmarks such as Casa de la Alcaldía, Plaza Fundacional, La Rogativa, and Puerta de San Juan—connecting their recent project on the city's architecture to Puerto Rico’s past.

At SJS, learning extends far beyond textbooks. We cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep connection to our heritage, preparing students to be engaged, informed global citizens.
