6 SJS Seniors Selected as National Merit Scholarship Program's Semifinalists!

Congratulations to 𝗝𝗲𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗻, 𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗲́𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻̃𝗼, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻, 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗼𝘀 𝗥𝗼𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘇, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘇𝗮, who have been selected as Semifinalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program!

These talented students have an opportunity to compete for 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will award next year.

Over 1.3 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT® test. Around 16,000 Semifinalists were selected, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, including the highest-scoring entrants in each state.

To be a Finalist, the Semifinalist and a high school official must submit a detailed scholarship application, including an outstanding high school academic record, activities, leadership, employment, and awards. Also, endorsement from a school official, an essay, and SAT® or ACT® scores consistent with the qualifying test. The 2024 winners -who earn the Merit Scholar® title- will be selected from the group of Finalists based on their skills, accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies, without regard to gender, race, ethnic origin, or religious preference. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship.

Let's give it up for our future leaders and wish them the best!
