6th Grade

In sixth grade, students embark on an enriched Language Arts/English curriculum designed to deepen their literary understanding and refine their language skills. The focus on reading comprehension reaches an advanced level, with students analyzing complex texts to extract nuanced meanings and themes. The development of writing skills progresses with an emphasis on crafting more intricate essays and engaging in comprehensive research projects. Grammar and punctuation are refined, contributing to a heightened command of language mechanics, while vocabulary expansion continues to be a vital component of the curriculum.
The sixth-grade Mathematics curriculum builds upon previous years' foundational concepts. Students continue to work on operations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages, honing their skills in these fundamental arithmetic operations. The introduction to ratios and proportions broadens their understanding of mathematical relationships, providing a bridge to more advanced concepts. Basic algebraic concepts take center stage, with students learning to solve equations and delve into the principles of algebraic thinking. Geometry remains a focal point, encompassing the comprehension of angles and basic geometric constructions. Sixth grade serves as a pivotal year for students to further solidify their mathematical and language abilities, laying the groundwork for continued academic success.
