SJS Junior Promotes Early Reading Habits

Inspiring news from our junior Diego Ortiz-Golderos ('25), who significantly impacted Escuela Rosa Luz Zayas in Naranjito during their Library Week and Early Childhood Week! Diego was invited by the school librarian, who believed his story could spark a love for reading among the school's 119 students.

He captivated them with his journey and independent community project, "Los Lectores de Encantada," which promotes early reading habits and a lifelong passion for literature. During his visit, Diego shared his transformative experience with reading and how it changed his outlook on life. He also read a beautifully illustrated book by Tere Marichal, fitting perfectly with the week dedicated to the esteemed author and illustrator. The students were so inspired that many thanked Diego personally, some even giving him heartfelt hugs.

Diego is super grateful to SJS for supporting him by donating books and encouraging him to advocate for reading among younger generations. He is determined to continue expanding his project with the community's help.

Join us in celebrating Diego's achievements and supporting his mission!
