Ideal Qualities for Candidates:
  • Master’s degree strongly desired, in curriculum, instruction, subject area of expertise or other related subject or fields. Bachelor’s degree is the minimum requirement.
  • Valid teaching certificate in the subject area(s) strongly desired.
  • Multiple certifications or ability to teach multiple subjects a plus.
  • Three (3) years of teaching experience, ideally in a private or independent school.
  • Must be able to speak and teach in fluent English, with strong written and oral communication skills. Spanish is only required for Spanish teacher candidates.
  • Experience teaching Advanced Placement (AP) courses a plus.
  • Ability to balance a strong commitment to academic excellence, with empathy, compassion and a zest for helping all students succeed.
  • Knowledgeable in modern instructional methodologies and the ability to differentiate instruction in a challenging academic setting.
  • Experienced and versed in the use of instructional technology.
  • Passionate about being part of the life of the school, empowering students to achieve work/life balance and willingness to commit additional time to take over as a mentor of student organizations.

Saint John’s School

Saint John’s School is a non-profit, college preparatory, nonsectarian, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from pre pre-kinder to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
