Gia Mar Ramos receives NCWIT Special Recognition

Congratulations to 10th grader, Gia Mar Ramos, who received a Special Recognition during the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Awards Ceremony and Dinner, sponsored by the National Center of Women & Informational Technology (NCWIT), the Georgia Tech School of Informatics and State Farm. Gia Mar is the first and only student to win the NCWIT AiC award in the entire United States as a 9th grader.

The "NCWIT Computer Aspirations Award" recognizes the achievements and aspirations of young people and generates attention for women to participate in technology-related activities. The NCWIT AiC award encourages high school girls to follow their passion for technology. This prestigious honor recognizes women in grades 9-12 for their proven leadership skills and their participation in technology, robotics, and applied science, along with their academic success and plans for a college education.

Saint John’s School is a non-profit, college preparatory, nonsectarian, coeducational day school founded in 1915. The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from pre pre-kinder to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
