Outstanding Performance of Shrek the Musical

Everyone’s favorite upside-down fairytale came to Puerto Rico when Saint John’s School presented Shrek the Musical, a musical stage adaptation of the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film. The show took place at Teatro Tapia in Old San Juan. 

 

Under the direction of Marian Pabón, over 97 students worked with a creative team that included volunteer parent producer, Marilynne Negron, assistant parent producer Ana Millón, musical director Josué González and choreographer Ivana Méndez. The lead characters in the cast were 10th grader, Felipe Albors as Shrek, 12th grader, Miranda Bonano as Fiona, 7th grader, Amir Trinidad as Donkey, 12th grader, Miguel Mendoza as Lord Farquaad, and 10th grader, Alexandra Santiago as Dragon.

Shrek the Musical is based on a popular 1990 book by William Steig. The characters of Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona, and the other inhabitants of “Far, Far Away,” have been featured in three major animated films and a popular television special to date. The first Shrek feature film hit theaters in the summer of 2001 and went on to win the first-ever Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature. 

We are extremely proud of our cast and crew who showed their passion, dedication, and commitment to the arts throughout the entire process. It was a fabulous theatrical event for the entire community.
