7th Grader, Jessica Wan, 3rd Prize Advantage Testing Foundation Math Prize for Girls

Saint John's School is proud to announce that Jessica won 3rd prize at MIT in the 2018 Advantage Testing Foundation Math Prize for Girls
Organized each year by the Advantage Testing Foundation, the competition is considered to be the preeminent female math competition for young women in North America. Jessica also won the Youth Prize, awarded to the highest-scoring contestant in 9th grade or below. As stated by the foundation, "We award a Youth Prize to the highest-scoring contestant in 9th grade or below. This year, the Youth Prize was awarded to Jessica Wan (3rd place above), only in 7th grade!" CONGRATULATIONS JESSICA!

The Advantage Testing Foundation Math Prize for Girls is the largest math prize for girls in the world. Each fall at MIT, nearly 300 young female mathematicians compete in our challenging test of mathematical creativity and insight. Our goal is to promote gender equity in the STEM professions and to encourage young women with exceptional potential to become mathematical and scientific leaders."

The school, located in a residential area of Condado, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has an enrollment of over 800 students from pre pre-kinder to grade twelve. Instruction is mostly in English with the exception of language courses.
