Saint John’s School Faculty/Staff Acceptable Use Policy

The purpose of the Saint John’s School (SJS) network is to provide students, faculty, and staff with access to unique educational and research resources, opportunities to promote excellence in education. By embracing this new technology SJS maintains its commitment to provide the highest quality education as a college preparatory institution. Use of the SJS network is exclusively for the support of educational and, research needs consistent with the curriculum and instructional objectives of the school

SJS wireless network is part of an intricate system composed of an intranet (smaller local area network clusters), and access to the World Wide Web. In order to maintain these systems and preserve their stability, all faculty and staff must read and sign the following Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) prior to being granted access to any of the network media.

Privacy

Information posted on or over the SJS network is not private or confidential. SJS may monitor and/or review all faculty/staff computer activity at anytime to ensure users are acting responsibly

Security

· Network settings should not be changed without explicit permission from the System Administrator .

· Accessing the network as a “System Administrator” is not allowed.

· Keep all account information, username and passwords private. The user must not share or loan this information for any reason

· It is essential to report to the system administrator if it is believed that any part of the network has been breached or compromised

I AGREE TO

· Comply with copyright regulations. SJS expects faculty and staff for instructional staff to be familiar with appropriately use of copyright regulations and the ethical use of copyrighted material as an educational tool

· Not use the network for storing, running or copying illegally.

· Maintain my personal school email account and check it regularly

· Always logoff when finished with a network application or upon leaving a computer workstation

· Follow proper netiquette’’ which include not publishing on or over the network any offensive material that may harm someone else or his or her work

· Use the network for educational purposes only and not for personal, commercial or financial gain

· Access personal accounts only during personal time relinquish network hardware immediately if needed for school purposes.

I have read the above. I understand and will abide by the stated terms and conditions. I understand that access to this network is a privilege not a right. SJS will not be held responsible for any damages users, user files or personal hardware may incur.
